Aircraft Cleaning

Aircraft cleaning involves:

Post 9/11 airports have changed in many ways. Security is a major part of airport life these days. Make certain you are allowed to enter airport property legally. Some airports are very protective of who has access and the airports managers' office should be able to assist you with access.

When cleaning an aircraft or even getting ready to clean an aircraft, two methods of getting that aircraft clean will apply.

cars 131

The first method most of us are familiar with is the conventional wet wash. This process consists of water being directly applied to the aircraft with a mild pressure via a pressure washer or a standard garden hose.

Wet washing has become much more of an environmental issue in recent years and as a consequence of this many airports are now treating the water that is used to wash aircraft as waste water, resulting in many airports no longer allowing wet washing in practice.

Our method is the Dri Wash method which is increasingly becoming the first choice within the industry today. The new EPA (Environmental Protection agency) standards that are being enforced in the international airports are now filtering down to many smaller airports across the world.

Dri washing is not a new technology. For many years ‘waterless’ wash products have been available to not only the motoring industry, but the aviation industry too. Technology it seems is on the move so contact Dri Wash Valeting today’

Health & Safety

When cleaning aircraft health and safety procedures are paramount.

Hi visibility garments supplied by the airfield will be worn at all times

Adherence to Health and Safety regulations will be holly observed

No work is carried out on any form of engine, turbine or propeller

Plane_01

Our operatives will always carry their first aid kits, eye wash stations, warning signs, gloves, goggles, ear protectors and COSHH sheets for all materials

Extra care is taken when cleaning cockpits (dials, switches and buttons)

When underneath an aircraft care is taken with antennas and hanging pipe work

Bespoke uniforms will be worn at all times

Fuselage

Starting at the top of the aircraft and working front to back, we'd perform a visual inspection of the aircraft looking for anything that could cause damage to the aircraft when it is being cleaned. We'd be aware of static wicks and peto tubes while performing your work. Many are very sensitive and easily broken if knocked.

Cleaning is done by using the same process using specified ladders and gantries supplied by the aircraft company or owner.

Bright work

Our bespoke service will clean, seal, polish and protect bright work in two easy steps. The polishing process is done by hand using a low-grit polishing compound which produces a mirror-like, swirl-free shine. We then apply a coat of our polymer protection which will seal and polish the surface concerned.

Plane3Insect Removal

Insects can make your aircraft look worse than it actually is. Removal of these insects from the nose, leading edges of the wings, windscreen, the landing gear covers, gear struts and any other area of the body is not a problem for Dri Wash valeting. Once cleaned our polymer protectant will make insect removal easier.

Exhaust and Oil

When your aircraft has its routine service and a moderate oil leak has appeared, an exhaust has blown and soot is deposited

over the wing or tail, or some hydraulic fluid has leaked onto the aircraft fuselage, call Dri Wash valeting and our method will clean these types of spillage's up in no time at all.

Wheels and Tyres

When cleaning wheels and tyres particular attention is given to any form of leakage, these leaks will be reported and then once the go ahead is given these leaks will be degreased and cleaned and protected. Tires will be cleaned and blackened.

Interior Cleaning

Aircraft interiors are substantially different than auto interiors. Aircraft interiors are treated with flame-retardants that assist at reducing the dangers of fire within the cabin/cockpit. Also, many aircraft interior can include some very delicate materials such as silk, ultra suede and fine leather. Using the wrong cleaners on aircraft interiors can remove or reduce the fire retardants effectiveness and or cause damage to very costly materials to
Plane2 repair.

Leather Cleaning

This area can be cleaned back to showroom condition. This is based upon an inspection and a meeting to find out your specific requirements.
